Berlinale, one of the world's leading film festivals, opens from February 9 to February 19. Above 350 films will be screened at this year's most attended film festival. Public forums and discussions will accompany the lovers of the seventh art.
The Berlinale is a festival that mainly deals with the promotion of world-class film production and new talents. The awards are two in different categories: "Golden Bear" and "Silver Bear" - a symbol of Berlin.
Dutch director Paul Verhoeven ("Primary Instinct", "Robocop", "Call for a Return") will chair the seven-member jury. Other evaluators include: Julia Jensch ("I served the King of England"), Olafur Eliasson, Dora Furati, Diego Luna ("And your mother, too," Frida "), Maggie Gyllenhaal (" The Black Knight ") and Wang Quanan.
The Berlinale stays true to the world's political cinema and makes it possible to see Raul Peck's (former Haitian Culture Minister) films - I'm Not Your Negro (Oscar-nominated) and The Young Marx. Outside the official program is the film created by an international team for the trial of Oleg Sentsov, by a Russian court for its fight against annexation of Crimea. He is sentenced to 20 years in prison on a charge of terrorism and stirs up an outcry about the unfair process. He also sentenced Alexander Kolchenko, Gennady Afanasiev and Alexei Cherni.
The official program features 18 films with a predominantly European presence. Films such as "Logan" will be presented - the latest movie in the X-man series, "Trainspotting" with Angela Nedyalkova, "Dinner" with Richard Giar, and "The Lost City of Z" with director James Gray
The highlight of the Berlinale program will be the world premiere of the 3D version of Terminator 2.
The European Film Market, which is part of Berlinale, will welcome over 14000 cinema guests. The Bulgarian National Film Center will also have its own presentation, which will invest its efforts mainly in organizing meetings between our and international professionals.
