The new video by "Chemical Brothers" proves to the general public once again what it is like to make music and video on a higher level, stimulating the senses to the limit, just like the fans love. This, of course, is not done by one or two people, but by teams of people, professionally prepared and having passion, enthusiasm and, above all, a strong passion for the project, that it becomes art and is viewed over 6 million times in just a few days.
Who is involved in the project?
When the Chemical Brothers have an idea, they expect the best. That's why, for this clip, they enlisted the services of renowned production duo Dom&Nic, who often work with The Mill London, a company specializing in visual effects work for videos, games, commercials, and films.
The project:
2D animator Fergal Hendrick and 3D animators David Fleet and Suraj Harrington-Odedra ("The Mill") have the difficult task of transforming the beautiful and talented dancer and actress Sonoya Mizuno, not only into a transparent model, but also to recreate the transition of her body from a normal to a lattice 3D material. After many attempts, they manage to achieve their goal, overcoming a large number of challenges. From the design of the mesh shape, through the shadow of the dancer, to every movement, sunlight, the effect of the clothes, etc. Their work is complemented by director Ed Cheeseman ("Final Cut"), choreographer Winn McGregor, photographer Steve Chivers and others. Dozens of cameras, programs such as "Maya" and "Houdini", in some cases specially created software, scanning technologies, motion capture and extraterrestrial skills are used.
For the magazine "Bulgar ka" , one of those no less guilty of the video and the Bulgarian element in it - Ivo Slivkov from ("Timeaware") shared his experiences from the project:
" We deal with Mo-cap" (Motion Capture, Mocap) and computer 3D animation. " Mo-cap" is a process in which the movement of the human body is recorded and then can be uploaded onto a 3D model, whether for a game, film or television show. For this purpose, the person wears a suit in which there are trackers. They capture the movement of each part of the body and the information is sent in real time wirelessly to a computer. Also in real time, in a special program, the movement can be seen and assessed whether everything is as the director wants or if something needs to be changed.

We use a portable system for recording human movement, so they approached us to participate in the project of " The Mill". The requirement was that Sonoya be filmed not in a specially equipped studio, but at the location where the video "Wide Open" by " Chemical Brothers" was filmed. Our contribution was the recording of her movements, which were then used by the animators for the purpose of the project. For me personally, it was a great experience to work in a team with a star like Sonoya Mizuno. She is an excellent actress and professional. Everything was very professional and perfectly organized.
