"Shit Storm: a collection of online hatred" features Veronika Belcheva (Belronika), Kostadin Kokalanov, Elizaveta Angelova (Written by Ellie) and Stefan Chinov

The words used to attack many public figures, journalists and human rights activists in Bulgaria online are too vulgar and cynical. The exhibition "Shit Storm: a collection of online hate", organized by the "GLAS" Foundation, presents for the first time to the public and outside the virtual world selected real threats and insults, calls for violence and harassment made because of a prominent civil position or opinion. The aim is not only to draw attention to the phenomenon of "hate language", but also to make the words presented through the art of various authors drained of meaning, distanced until they become objects of aesthetic contemplation.

Through her delicate watercolors, the illustrator Veronika Belcheva recreates the experience of "hate speech" in a 2-minute animation and drawings in which she interweaves the handwritten insults of the calligrapher Elizaveta Angelova. This is the first collaboration between the two.

The graphic designer with an interest in calligraphy  - Kostadin Kokalanov, is involved in the project, writing by hand on curtains selected insults and threats, which have been collected for years by LGBTI activists, Roma, Jews, feminists, writers, journalists and others. Stefan Chinov participated with the work "1000 words", in which real threats were made online, printed on fabrics.

"Shit Storm: a collection of online hatred" will last until November 11 inclusive and can be viewed every day from 12 to 19.30 in the gallery "KO-OP", at 17 Yanko Sakazov Blvd.
