The exhibition is under the patronage of the State Agency for Bulgarians Abroad and with the assistance of the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Research with the Ethnographic Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
Bulgarian photographer Asen Velikov has 38 exhibitions at home and abroad. One of his dreams was to visit Bessarabia. "The strong Bulgarian spirit that the Bessarabian Bulgarians have kept within themselves is remarkable," he said after returning from the fairs in Ukraine and Moldova. In the selected photos he will show us Bessarabians dressed in traditional clothes, expressing Bulgarian spirit.
This year, as part of the celebration of Bessarabian Bulgarians Day, two anniversaries are celebrated - the 180 years of the Holy Transfiguration Cathedral of Belgrade and the 160 years of Georgi Rakovski High School. These are the two Bulgarian spiritual and cultural shrines that were built with the help of the Bulgarian immigrants in Bessarabia and who have been keeping the spirit of the Bulgarian community in Bessarabia alive for almost two centuries.
