The creative environment is described in three words: exploration, invention, and imaging.
“Andante” is an abstract technology for learning piano in an alternative way from the field of digital arts. It was created by computer science professors Prof. Hiroshi Ishii and Prof. Hiao Hiao of the “Tangible Media Group”. Like their 2013 project – “MirrorFugue”, “Andante” also visualizes the reflection of the pianist, but the goal here is interactive learning of the instrument.
The two professors say that learning piano is often associated with laborious and not very enjoyable work. The two scientists believe that in this way many more students and performers will be able to overcome long, multi-hour rehearsals and improve their perception of lessons.
A pre-recorded piece is connected via MIDI interface to a computer that reads new Java programming. To achieve the effect of the different characters, the two professors use a computer and a reflective projector, which makes notation with "Andante" fun and easy to learn.
The animation of the images allows people to feel and see the real movement of the music.
